Question about AC Transfer Characteristic

Hello, sorry if this is a wrong forum, I am absolutely new to the forum and how to use so forgive me.

I am currently trying to investigate the resonance frequency/frequency response of the LRC circuit. I wanted to make sure if my method is correct before I proceed.

My questions are:

  1. If I use the AC transfer characteristic, does the input voltage source signal shape matters? Or it does not matter and it will analyze based on sinusoidal signal and sweep through frequency from whatever I set the frequency to be starting and whatever I set the frequency to be end at. 
  2. I have asked in the prior question but does the Transfer characteristic sweep through the frequency to generate the output? Or simply take the time domain output's Fourier transform. 

To summarize my question can I use the AC transfer characteristic to find the resonance frequency?
