DP83867IS: Function of Rbias, GPIO_0 and GPIO_1

Part Number: DP83867IS

Dear Expert,

Customer is evaluating DP83867IS for 1000Mbps RGMII / SGMII application. Some question about DP83867IS function.

  1. Rbias: What is the Rbias function? Why need A 11-kΩ ±1% resistor connected from RBIAS to GND?
  2. Typical applications for GPIO_0 and GPIO_1

BR,

Dylan

  • Hi Dylan,

The RBIAS is used to generate reference current for the PHY to use. Hence +/-1% accuracy resistance is required to minimize the current variation.

GPIO_0 and 1 applications can be different from use case to use case basis. You can refer to description of register 0x0172 to understand the features available on these GPIOs.
