DP83869HM: How 1000m Media converter works

I am using a dp83869hm configured as a 1000m Media converter.

I was wondering if you could help me with a question.

1. when the SD signal is input normally, if the cupper link of the phy is not connected, LED_1 will light up and then turn off. At this time, the Cupper link is down.

In my environment, there is a 1000m Media converter using another product, and the Cupper link is connected regardless of SD (when there is no optical signal). (The chip is 88E1512 series)

I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my design or if DP83869HM works like this, but I don't have a detailed understanding of how media converters work in general.

2. 1000M MEDIA CONVERTER when using it.
If the Ethernet switch of both sides is set to AUTONEGO, should I set the setting of DP83869HM to fiber autonegotiation? Currently, I am setting it to fiber force mode, but when reconnecting the optical link, sometimes there is a suspected duplex miss match (cupper link is connected to 10M HD).

Hello,

This may be due to link loss pass through.

Can you please put PHY in FX auto-neg mode and see if this changes the behavior?

Is the issue you are experiencing due to LINK LOSS PASS THROUGH answering question 1 or question 2?

We'll try to disable the LINK LOSS PASS THROUGH strap later this week or next week, as our equipment is currently out of the office and we can't test it right away.

If possible, please let us know the status of the Cupper Link when operating as a media converter and when the Cupper part of the PHY is connected to the Ethernet switch.

And please tell me the difference between fiber force mode and fiber autonego mode.

Also, how about talking in the current thread instead of the e2e.ti.com/.../dp83869hm-dp83898hm-1000m-media-converter-mode-operation-principle-and-issue-phenomenon thread? I think I'm confusing you by asking 2 similar questions.

A device came in and read a register

0x3 : a0f3

0x6e : 081e

0x01df : 0044

I think I have it set up correctly.

The only thing that differed from my thinking was determining autonego as the fiber strap pin.

I thought the phy chip would do autonego regardless of fiber strap.

So now the PHY chip is using

cupper - autonego

Fiber - force

and it is working, could this be the cause of the duplex miss match?

Hello,

I see that auto-negotiation has been strapped to disable. Is it possible to adjust the strap to enable upon powerup? If not, you will need to manipulate register 0x0.

Can you also report 0x0, 0x1, 0x4, 0x5, 0x9, 0xA, 0x11?
