Hello,
could you send me a User Guide for my new DS90UB928QEVM Board, Revision SV600901 B-001?
SNLU131 from February 2013 does not match to this PCB.
Do i need a 5V or 12V Power Supply for barrel connector?
User Guide describe 5V, on PCB is a label with 12V!
Regards Reiner
Hi Reiner,
As changing some devices in the EVM board, the power supply is different. please use +12V in your case if your board shows +12V input in the supply pin. Other circuits, including UB928 external circuits and relative setting are same as the user guide. We are aware of the discrepancy between the EVM and the user guide. It will be updated soon.
Best,
Josh
Hi Josh,
ALP SW could not connect to EVM. There is no LED on.
What else is necessary to get the EVM running. I could mesaure an other voltage then the supply 12V.
Regards Reiner
Hi Reiner,
Are you saying that ALP doesn't recognize EVM or is it connected but the EVM's LED doesn't turn on?
Could you share the screenshot of ALP screen? Also, as you recently inquired about ALP configuration, please check if you have set ALP settings carefully. (Link)
Best,
Josh
Hi Josh,
EVM does not connect to ALP Software, and no LED is on.
The first screenshot is made with connected DS90UB927 EVM.
Then i disconnect the EVM, disconnect the USB2ANY, close ALP Software.
Then connect USB2ANY, connect and power DS90UB928QEVM, open ALP Sofware, take a screenshot.
EVM 928 is off or in deep sleep, because the board does not need current on 12V supply. It is below 1mA.
I could not measure an other voltage then the 12V power supply.
Is a jumper missing to generate internal voltage, e.g. VDD33C, +1.8V, +3.3V
Regards Reiner
Hi Reiner,
You need to change the profiles to UB928 for the configuration.
Is a jumper missing to generate internal voltage, e.g. VDD33C, +1.8V, +3.3V
I don't know how you set it up. If it doesn't work after changing the profile in ALP, please share a physical picture of EVM.
This thread might be helpful about 928EVM. (Link)

Hi Josh,
this is my setup:
Power Supply is 12V, but no current.
The I2C Signals from EVM to USB2ANY are both Low(0V), i think the 928 has no power supply.
Which jumper should i set, or should i use an other voltage to suppy the EVM. Maybe at VDD33C with 3.3V?

Hi Josh,
mini USB does not work with my Laptop, so i switch to USB2ANY. See
RE: DS90UB927QEVM: NSC USB NANO Driver
This is the backside of my 928 QEVM.
I have only connected the I2C and GND wire(J8), nothing else.
Should i connect 3.3V to J10, named VDD33C?
Or JP5, named 1.8V, on top side?
This label was on the transport box of this QEVM:

Hi Reiner,
I think you need to test the isolation measurement. Please let me know what value it is measured.
Best,
Josh
Hi Josh,
PDB to low,
apply 12V
3a: J17 is 12V, GND from J11
3b: J10 VDD33C is 0V
3c: JP5 is 0V
3d: DDIO is 0V
Should i supply the board with 5V on USB-Mini or 3.3V on J10?
Regards Reiner
Hi Reiner,
I missed one comment in a previous reply. Please try again with jumpers on J12 and J18. The jumpers are the only difference between us and I could measure the power rails voltages. Please make sure that the measurement was performed with power rails voltage and GND. (J20 & J17), (J10 & J11), (Two pin headers on JP5), (VDDIO & GND on JP1)
Best,
Josh
Hi Josh,
with placed Jumper on J12 and J18 the boards takes 0,2A at my 12V power supply.
And i am able to measure 3.3V at Jumper J10 and 1,8V at Jumper 5. That seems to be ok.
In the next step i have connected the USB2ANY Adpater and started the Analog LaunchPAD Software.
But i could not made a connection.
Then i connect my Oszilloskop to measure the I2C wires. They are at High Level, but i could not trigger to a falling edge, the I2C start condition.
What could i also check?
Regards Reiner
Hi Reiner,
Since the power rails work properly, we should focus on the I2C.
Best,
Josh
Hi Josh,
1. my Laptop does not load the driver from onboard I2C chip. It´s not a problem from USB cable, it´s "only" a driver problem. That´s the reason why i swap to USB2ANY Adpater. With this one, i am able to connect to DS90UB927
No short circuit between SDA, SCL and GND.
SDA and SCL are high on black connector, so the connection should be ok.
What else could i check?
Regards Reiner

Hi Josh,
1. wires are checked.
2. This screen shot is made without connected EVM, only USB2ANY is connected.
I think this part works, because i am able to get a connection to 925 EVM.
But not to 928 EVM.
Regards Reiner
Hi Reiner,
I couldn't see any difference in the 928 EVM setting between us. Since you could measure the correct voltage on rails and recognize the profile on ALP, I guess it is not an issue regarding hardware.
You need to change the profiles to UB928 for the configuration.
Did you change the profile to 928? After changing the profile, please check if it is able to read the I2C address on the script tab as below.
Best,
Josh
Hi Josh,
after change to DS90UB928, i could measure a I2C communication between USB2ANY and EVM!
Is ALP connected with EVM now?
So i can serialize LVDS to FPD and back to LVDS?
Regards Reiner
Hi Reiner,
If you can read the deserializer I2C address, it means that ALP is connected to the EVM. It can be configured between the serializer and deserializer, and you can see that the lock LED is on when the mode selection is matched.
I would like to recommend you should watch the video (Use of Analog Launch Pad (ALP) GUI to configure the FPD-Link EVMs) and please refer to videos in FPD-Link learning center that would be helpful for you. (Link)
As the issue is solved, I close this ticket. Please ask the new thread if there is some questions further.
Best,
Josh
