DS90UB914A-CXEVM: raw data from sensor?

in the Driver Monitoring System (DMS Camera) project, we use the OV2311 sensor from Omnivision. The output of this sensor is RAW data and is connected to the DS90UB953 serializer.

We want to use the DS90UB914A-CXEVM kit for SERDES init and software.

Can you tell us whether this kit supports RAW data? (Note: We saw in the datasheet that the DS90UB953 serializer is compatible with DS90UB914.)

We have a DS90UB914A Evkit and want to connect our image sensor card (OV2311) and stream video. However we don't know how we can achieve this. Could you please provide technical support to run this kit?

Hi Nazli,

Your image sensor card will need to be connected to a SER. I'm assuming you are using the 953? If you have a 953 EVM, connector J1 can be used to connect the CSI signals from your image sensor card. Schematics are provided in the EVM user's guide. If you are using a custom board, then you will need to connect the CSI signals to the pins of the 953.

Hi Lucas,

On our sensor card, there is a DS90UB953 FPD Link-III serializer. Sensor and serializer are connected eachother on this card. When we connect sensor card to DS90UB914 EVM, we couldn't communicate sensor and serdes via I2C. SER-DES lock occured but we can't reach to sensor. Actually I want to check our 914 Evkit and then sensor power domain.

Do you suggest anything to achieve this. Are there anything that I'm missing out?

Hi Nazli,

I suggest reading this app note which explains how to setup I2C communication over the bi-directional control channel with a remote SER and with a remote slave/camera. If you are still having issues with I2C communication, please let me know.

Hi Lucas,

I couldn't see any information on datasheet about that DS90UB914 is support MIPI CSI-2. Actually, I'm not using parallel data, I'm using MIPI CSI-2 (2-Lane) interface.

Now, This evkit doesn't support MIPI and I can't go on with this. Am I right?

Hi Nazli,

That's correct, the 914 does not support MIPI CSI-2. 953 can be used with 914 in DVP backwards compatibility mode, but not with CSI-2 data.
