DS90UB941AS-Q1: HDCP system configuration through serdes

Part Number: DS90UB941AS-Q1

Hi TI,

I try to check HDCP display configuration.

basically I know,

- in case of 'SoC ~ Display module' : Soc must have hdcp output logic and Display module also must, and so,

developer should certify hdcp between SoC and Display module.

- but, in case of 'SoC ~ (ser) ~ (des) ~ display' :

I wonder that, how can I configure hdcp display system.

q1. if I use SoC (which can support hdcp 1.2/1.3),

I have to make system using Ser (with HDCP) and Des IC (with HDCP)

-> I guess this can be possible system

q2. when I use SoC (which cannot support / have HDCP logic)

if I use DS90UB941 Ser and DES IC (with implement hdcp), can I say, our system can support HDCP ?

Thanks

  • Hello Minu,

There is no clear rule which is defined by DCP to answer this question to my knowledge. It is up to the interpretation of the OEM manufacturer to make this decision on what is acceptable, and they may consult with DCP directly since TI does not own the HDCP standard or mandate what is allowed. It may depend on various factors such as whether or not the system module allows access to the unprotected data through a user accessible port or not. In general the concept of #2 is not well defined actually in the industry. (Also for #2 you would need to use UH941AS, not UB. Only UH devices support HDCP)

    Best Regards,
