TCAN4550: Query for TCAN4550

Part Number: TCAN4550

Hi Team

Customer is using TCAN4550 in their latest project. A communicate with B, then transfer CAN registration information to C( but the signal of registration information is messy data). they would like to know whether the C can feedback the reception abnormality to D chip?

  • Hello Harry,

I'm not sure if I fully understand what you mean by "the signal of registration information is messy data."  Are you saying the signals are just noisy and don't look nice and clean, or if you mean the data is getting corrupted. Can they share scope captures of the messy data signals? Are they using the proper termination between the CANH and CANL pins on both TCAN4550 devices?  There should be 120 ohms at each end of the cable.

The TCAN4550 devices have Error Counters to track the number of messages transmitted with errors, and also received with errors as defined by the CAN standard.  The D MCU can read the Error Counter Register (ECR) and the Protocol Status Register (PSR) in the C TCAN4550 and retrieve the current error count and status.

    Regards,

    Jonathan
