Can you provide me example of LVDS flexible cable for transporting 4 signals on 1 meter : SPI signals at 20MHz (CLK, MISO, MOSI) + another clock at 32 kHz

I am looking for flexible cable (around 2mm outer diameter) wich can be used with LVDS interface IC.

I saw there exist some ultra thin HDMI cable around 2,5mm but they are expensive.

Do you think I can use flat LVDS cable like the CSI cable used for camera for exemple ? I doubt because they do not have twisted pair... So can I use 2 trace of this type of cable for each pair event if they are not twisted ?

    Our team does not specialize in types of cabling, but we do deal with transceiver applications for protocols such as RS-485, I2C, CAN/LIN, etc. For an application with max data rate around 20MHz (SPI signals) I don't think expensive cabling (HDMI)  is required to get good data communication. I believe twisted pair is probably your best bet that is cheap and effective, something like CAT5 cabling would work. 

    Are you looking for 2mm outer diameter per wire, or the entire cable? CAT5 would probably be larger than 2.5mm diameter you are looking for.

    I think you are correct here. The in-line flat cabling doesn't have twisted pair, so external noise coupling on the signal lines is probable. To prevent excess noise and crosstalk, I recommend going with a twisted pair solution.

    Indeed I think that unfortunately the ethernet cables will be too big for my application. I'm going to try to find a shielded twisted pair cable supplier to have fewer pairs and therefore a smaller diameter but I don't know if it will be cheaper than the ultra-thin HDMI cable...

    If not, do you know it is possible to simulate different types of cables with IBIS component models and specific software?

  • There are high-flex Ethernet cables. I do not know if this would be enough for you.

    Ribbon cables might work, if there is not too much noise. If you use them, route pairs together, and add extra GND lines between the pairs to reduce crosstalk. Consider adding common-mode chokes.
