CMOS Camera and I2C control interface

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP410, PCA9517

I am developing an application where an Aptina Mt9P031 5Mp 12bit camera must be interfaced across a 48" cable.  The camera sensor requires a 12bit parallel interface with PCLK up to 96MHz as well as an I2C interface to control image parameters.

I am considering using a TFP410/403 SerDes and only drive the lower 12 bits.  The I2C interface would then require an additional module such as the PCA9517 repeater.  This is a clunky approach.  The are a number of Maxim IC products which include the I2C control interface, however, due to availablity and reliability I would much rather use a TI-based solution.

Is there a TI CMOS interface SerDes with integrated I2C?  If not Is the TFP410 and PCA9517 the best approach for a simple implementation?

Thanks and Cheers.

  • Hi John, I apologize for the unusually long delay in responding.  I have been away for the last 2 weeks.

Check out the LVDT1422.  It's a 14-bit 100MHz SerDes.  It might not accommodate your I2C, but it'd probably be more suitable than using DVI.

    Thanks,
