Hello TI support,

I have a setup with DS90UB954-Q1EVM and a self designed PCB assembled with DS90UB953. The two boards are connected via Fakra connector and a coax cable.

The EVM is connected via USB and ALP is running. It's possible to control the GPIO of the 953 by setting the remote register. The test script '953_954_patgen_YUV_1920x1080p-4Lanes-Working.py'

is running well. Also the margin analysis look great.

I load the '953_954_BIST.py' script. After execution time 15.719 sec. there is a text like a report which a I can't interpret. Please see attached file:

My question: Has the script run succsesfully?

Hi Dusan,

Yes, the script was run successfully. This text is reading certain registers on the 954 and the 953, and printing them. Some of these have text below it to explain what the expected value is, which we can reference to the actual values printed out to see if they match. In this case, all the values seem to match, but the register 0x54 on the 953 is detecting a BIST CRC error, as seen in the third to last text line. The lock status also changed after enabling BIST, as seen in register 0x4D of the 954.

Hi Vivaan,

I have run the BIST script several times. The lock status register has always the value 0x3 and also the BIST CRC error is present (0x54 = 0x1).

Do you have an idea what the reason is for this behavior?

Hi Dusan,

The lock status changed from 0x13 to 0x3 in the screenshot you provided above. Is that not the case with your recent testing as well?

HI Vivaan,

I changed the coax cable to a shorter one and increase the testing time in the BIST script from 10s to 1min (test result attached).

The lock status 0x4D doesn't change during BIST.

But the BIST CRC Error count 0x54 register has the count 0x01. Is this an error in the setup or is the BIST error foreced by the script?

Hi Dusan,

While the BIST error is not forced by the script, it is expected. Even with 1 error, it falls under the bit error rate limit. This script seems to have run successfully, and the devices should function normally.
