SN65DP141: How to understand pre-emphasis and DRV_PK

Part Number: SN65DP141

Hi, team:

About SN65DP141 I have two confused parameters hope you could help explain it, thanks

   1. Does SN65DP141 has the pre-emphasis function? how to set parameter by hardware or software?

2.DRV_PK: How to understand the AC peaking, and how high frequency this parameter affects the signal, I didn't find description in the datasheet.

  • Hello,

SN65DP141 is a linear redriver meaning that it will not have a pre-emphasis function. The pre-emphasis that you are noting in the datasheet is that of the input signal which is passed through to the output of the redriver.

DRV_PK applies an AC gain on the TX side. Driver peaking adds an extra 6dB of high frequency gain. This boost happens between 6 and 10 Gbps.

    Thanks,

    Zach
