DS90UB936-Q1: AC-coupling capacitor

Part Number: DS90UB936-Q1

Hello,

I have a question about the AC-coupling capacitor in RIN+/RIN- of DS90UB936-Q1. If the both AC-coupling capacitor in RIN+/RIN- are 100nF, but Deserializer is Synchronous Mode and Coaxial Connection,  I want to know what the impact of this design is? Will it affect the MIPI signal output?

Looking forward to your reply. Thanks!

  • Hi,

This design difference is outside of the recommended operating conditions and therefore has not been validated. I can only recommend swapping the 100nF caps on the RIN- pins with 47nF caps.

  • Hi ,

At present, the product has been mass-produced. May I help you analyze the impact from the internal structure and working mechanism of the chip?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

The reason we recommend using 47nF caps on the RIN- pins is because the total capacitance on RIN+ and RIN- should match. Since RIN+ has 2 100nF caps across the channel on the SER side and the DES side, the total series capacitance is 50nF which is close to the 47nF recommendation on RIN-. When the total capacitance on RIN+ and RIN- do not match, there is a risk of the margin being affected which could affect signal quality and lock status.

    Best,

    Lucas
