DS90UB960-Q1: Checking the proper configuration of DS90UB960 along with DS90UB913

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hi TI

A customer has developed a Surround View Monitor system on NXP i.MX8QuadMax using a camera with TI SerDes,

but the camera module including the serializer is already a model used in mass production vehicles, so it is difficult to change it,

and we would like to check whether the video data is transmitted correctly by the deserializer and i.MX 8QM.

The system is configured as shown in the figure below,

and the video is coming in from the camera as shown in the rightmost display, and it is displayed in green and blue colors throughout.

They are claiming that the data coming in through the DS90UB960 is coming in with the UV inverted.

Is there a setting on the DS90UB960 to change the order of the UV data?

  • I am not sure what configuration has been done from DS90UB913 Serializer.

May I ask customer to provide DS90UB913 & 960 Configurations detail? As I heard they did set RAW8bit only to get data stream like that.

  • Hi Jack,

Can the customer provide full register dumps of the 960 and 913?

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Hi Lucas

Thanks for your kind reply. I'm waiting for Customer' response. Will get back to you.

  • Hi Jack,

Sure, let me know when the customer does respond.

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Hi Lucas.

Customer tried to capture 960's register values firstly. But they didn't try to capture 913 device due to role restriction.

Can you please check DS90UB960' register captured below?

  • Hi Jack,

My apologies for the delay in response due to E2E maintenance.

I see from register 0x4D that the 960 does not have PASS or LOCK, and in register 0x4E that there is no FPD-Link III input clock detected. Can the customer recapture the register dump while the device is in operation?

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Thanks for your prompt support.

I'll get back to you with reg dump captured while in operation. Thanks a lot.

  • Thanks Jack, let me know when the customer recaptures the reg dump.

    Best,

    Lucas

Please review if the DS960 is set correctly.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Jack,

Please allow ~1 week for me to review.

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Hi Jack,

Can you confirm that the customer is transmitting RAW8 data to the 913 on pins DIN[7] through DIN[0]? And they want the data to be converted to YUV422 8-bit by the 960? Are they expecting a resolution of 720x1280? These are the settings I'm seeing in registers 0x70, 0x73-0x76, and 0x7C.

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Hi Lucas

They don't have access ability to Sensor and 913 device. Hence they did have enough data.

I'll ask them to check Sensor and 913 side.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Jack

  • Hi Jack,

My current theory is that one of these settings might be incorrect and the display is abnormal due to an incorrect video format conversion or resolution. Please let me know if they are able to check these settings.

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Hi Lucas

Let me give you updates below.

    * Connection btw Sensor and 913

I asked about the connection configuration between Sensor parallel data and 913, but I am reconfirming because I received an answer that there is no transfer to 913.
They said they are currently transmitting from 913 to 960 in RAW10 mode,
    And Camera 1, 2, 3, 4 cameras are connected from RIN+/RIN- to RIN3+/RIN3- respectively.

    * Conversion to YUV422 8-bit on 960 side

They are receiving YCbCr422 8-bit data as raw10 data type from 913 to 960, and they received it as YUYV, and they want to receive it as UYVY.

    * Resolution

They understand that they are receiving image data at 1280 (width) x 720 (height) resolution.

Please Staty tuned as I'll get back to you with update regarding DIN[7]~DI[0] in RAW8 data connection with 913.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Jack

  • Hello,

Since today is a US public holiday, we will resume activity on this thread tomorrow. Thanks for your patience.

    Regards,

    Logan

  • Thank you for the information.
    Enjoy your holiday.

  • Hi Jack,

I am looking into this and will reply by COB today.

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Hi Jack,

Unfortunately there is no register setting to change the ordering of YUV data, however I need to check internally if the ordering should be YUYV or UYVY. I will get back to you on this by Friday.

Please do get back to me regarding which DIN pins on the 913 are receiving RAW8 data. It doesn't make sense for the customer to say "there is no transfer to 913" as there needs to be some device to transfer data, the 913 is not capable of creating data patterns on its own.

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Hi Jack,

Unfortunately it is not possible to change the YUV data ordering with the 960. Assuming there are no issues with the data received by the 913, the customer will need to re-order the YUV data using their processor.

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Hi Lucas.

Thanks for your kind answer and clarification.

I would inform customer to manipulate YUV data order from their processor side. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Jack

  • Hi Jack,

Let me know if you have any additional questions, otherwise I will be closing this thread.

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Hi Lucas.

Thank you for your kind support.

It seems take long to get clarified about Image sensor and 913 side.

I'll re-raise a new ticket if customer would respond us about Image Sensing Data Order at DIN pins.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Jack

  • Hi Jack,

Sounds good, you can open a new ticket if the customer responds about the DIN pins.

    Best,

    Lucas
