DS90UB960-Q1: How best to synchronize cameras across several different DS90UB962/960?

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hi there,

How would TI recommend issuing the same frame sync signal to several different DS90UB962 (or 960)?

We have the following schemes in mind:

In above block diagram, one of the DS90UB962 is generating an internal frame sync, and is driving that same framesync both to its downstream serializers and out to 2 GPIO. These GPIO are used to send the frame sync to other DS90UB962.

The idea is that this limits fanout of the framesync.

The other way would be to have a shared frame sync like below:

In this diagram, the top deserializer generates framesync internally, and sends that signal out of GPIO0. This is connected to other DS90UB962s so that they can use it as an externally generated framesync signal.

Is there one scheme that is better than the other?

Thanks,

John

  • Hello John,

The solution routing the same GPIO pin to each deserializer, as seen in the second picture, will likely provide the best results. This solution will provide an additional GPIO pin to be available on the master DS90UB962.

    Best,

    Zoe
