DS90UB953-Q1: register setting for clock out

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

Hi Sir,

The customer has a question about the register setting for CLKOUT_CTRL0 and CLKOUT_CTRL1.
The OSC provides the clock frequency 25MHz to DS90UB953, if the DS90UB953 CLK_OUT also can provide a clock output frequency 25MHz to the CMOS sensor, what are the values for CLKOUT_CTRL0 and CLKOUT_CTRL1?

  • Hello,

Thank you for your question. The CLK_OUT frequency is dependent on the settings of registers CLKOUT_CTRL0, CLKOUT_CTRL1, and the forward channel rate the device is operating at. For more details on this calculation, please see section 7.4.1.5 of the datasheet. Since a 25MHz oscillator is being used in Non-synchronous External clock mode, the forward channel will be operating at 2Gbps, which means to output a 25MHz CLK_OUT set the registers so 0x06 = 0x21 and 0x07 = 0x28, which corresponds to a HS_CLK_DIV of 2, an M of 1, and a N of 40.

    Regards,
    Darrah

  • Hello: I have a problem that when the TI953 outputs a 25MHZ clock to the sensor, the resolution cannot reach 1920*1536(1920*1423) with a frame rate of 30FPS/sec. When the TI953 output clock is 12.5MHZ to the sensor, the resolution reaches 1920*1536 and the frame rate is 15FPS/sec. How do I change the output to 30FPS/sec at 1920*1536 resolution force

  • Hello,

The 953 device can be programmed to output different clocks for the sensor to use, but the 953 does not program the output of the sensor directly. There may be a relationship between the received clock frequency and the resolution the sensor can achieve, but this would be sensor specific. For details on how to program your sensor, it is recommended to contact the sensor vendor directly as they will have more knowledge on the particular sensor being used and its operation.
