SN65DSI86: About output to 4K60P 24bpp device

Part Number: SN65DSI86

I understand that it can only support up to 4K60P 18bpp due to Mipi input limits.

So, is it possible to input at 4K60p 18bpp and output to the panel as 4K60p 24bpp by filling the lower 2 bits of each color with zeros?

  • Hello,

No, the DSI86 can not support 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz 24bpp because the required DSI bandwidth (~1.8Gbps per lane) is greater than what DSI86 can support. The DSI86 can support 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz 18bpp, but to support this resolution the DSI source must use DSI datatype 0x1E (18-bit RGB-666 packed format).

    Best, Allison
