DP83825I: simple operating/unmanaged mode with DP83825I without special configuration

Hi,
is it possible to transfer traffic (at regular operation and topology [CPU- PHY - magnetics - RJ45] ) without a special configuration,
by using only straps configuration (address, master, auto MDIX, auto neg)
and without sharing same oscillator (as shown in RMII repeater mode...)

Hi Eyal,

Yes, configuration can be completely done by straps, but we recommend having a microcontroller with read/write access regardless for debugging purposes.

What is the reason for wanting to use only straps for configuration?

just to make sure- is it still possible to configure the PHY after raising with the initial strapped configuration?

Hi Eyal,

PHY address and RMII master/slave mode must be selected by bootstrap and cannot be changed by register write. All other configurations can be changed by register write.
