DS90UH948-Q1: the solution for one video stream replicate to two same video stream

Part Number: DS90UH948-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HD3SS3411-Q1

the solution for one FPD-Link III video stream replicate to two same video stream, like the attchment show.

background: we want to copy the video stream coming from Ser to Deser1

we can not change the ser and deser1 structure and config.

  • I have new idea which come from 948 and can you help to confirm the solution?

if is possible to use the FPD-Link fan-out function to do this?

  • Hello Mengyao,

This kind of structure is not supported on the Link between SER and DES. That could prevent back-channel communication and can lead to not fulfilling our channel specs hence will result in faulty transmission.

Instead, you may use the HD3SS3411-Q1 "One Channel Differential 2:1 Mux/Demux"

  • Hello Jaradat,

        thanks for your replay.

according to your proposal, I change our concept  shown as blow.

I have a question about the deser configuration.

in the begining, we need to use ser configure deser1 and we can not modify the ser and deser1 confirgure now.

currently we want to repeater the video from ser to deser1, so we add the Mux HD3SS341 to repeater the FPD-Link data.

but we warry about the configuration by IIC from ser to deser1?

the deser1 will be configured correctly by ser , right?

we will configure the deser2 by MCU base on our usage scenarios.

  • Hello Mengyao,

Yes, you can configure both DES from SER over the forward channel.

Question, in the first configuration, you had 3x DES, but now just 2x DES? If you need only 2x DES then you can connect them directly to SER without and MUX!

  • Hello Jaradat,

my requirement is base on our product(can not modified the HW and SW), in our currently the ser have two desers (in my block just show one).

so we want to know the feasibility of my draft concept.

  • Hello Mengyao,

yes, the new proposal looks good to me. Just want to remind you that this is Multiplexer not a divider, which means only one output will be working at a time. i.e. switch the output either to DES1 or to DES2.

the deser1 will be configured correctly by ser , right?

Yes, you can configure the DES from the SER side. i.e. an I2C master on the SER side.

  • Hello Jaradat,

       thanks for your remind.

by the way is there any solution to repeate one FPD-Link to two and work at same time?

for my side we, my solution shown as blow and can you give me some proposal, thanks.

  • Hello Mengyao,

unfortunately, TI does not have oLDI one chip splitter solution.

If you want to use multiple chip solution, then you can use multiple SER and DES to make the splitter.
