DS90UB941AS-Q1: How long can the Cable line of FPDLINK III be supported?

Part Number: DS90UB941AS-Q1

Hi team,

How long can the Cable line of TI's FPDLINK III be supported?
I think no matter how long the cable is, as long as the parameters at both ends meet the requirements of the channel spec. Customers also understand this theory.
But I  and customer still want to know how many meters can the longest cable line of FPDLINK III be up to on a global scale? Or do we have relevant cable length data?

  • Hey Alan,

It really depends on the FPD rate and cable loss also connector type plays a big part (key characteristics for the connector are strong impedance continuity and low loss. Plus in automotive applications the connector is typically chosen to ensure excellent vibration performance to avoid accidental disconnection). There isn't a one answer fits all type solution here. The channel requirements for FPD-Link can be provided under NDA, so if you would like to discuss that please send me a private E2E message. The main point for FPD-Link is that the full channel s-parameters between SER/DES (insertion loss, return loss, crosstalk) must meet the FPD channel spec which includes PCB on both sides, cables, and connectors in-between.

    Regards,
    Fadi A.
