TCAN4550EVM: Power on indicator

Part Number: TCAN4550EVM

Hi,

I am trying to power my tcan4550evm by connecting to VBAT pins on J9 with an input of 6 V but I am not sure if the board is receiving power as there are no leds turning on. I am ultimately trying to send signals from awr1432 spi port and receive them on the TCAN but my software is not ready yet.

Am I powering the TCAN properly? How can I check if device turning on?

Best,

Bhuiyan

  • Hi Bhuiyan,

The TCAN4550EVM has an LDO included data can provide a local 5V supply that is used by the LEDs to indicate the power available on the board. When Vsup is supplied correctly, the LED for Vsup should be turned on.

Please be sure that the 6V that you are applying to the board is appearing on the VIN input of the LDO (U2). You can check this by probing J8 to ensure the Vsup rail is powered and by probing across C1 or C2 which are the capacitors by the LDO. Please review the EVM schematic on page 13 of the user's guide to see which components should be powered. I would also recommend checking that all series components such as shunt resistors and filtering inductors are populated on the board - be sure to check the back-side of the EVM.
