TUSB320LAI: How to charge a tablet in the host mode while maintaining communication between the tablet and a device

Hello

I am designing a dongle connected to Galluxy tablet in host mode.

The communication between a Tablet in host mode and a USB2Serial converter is ok, when the power is unplugged,but the communication connection is broken when the charger is plugged in.

I don’t know how to charge the Tablet in host mode while the communication is alive between the tablet and the USB2Serial converter.

Should I use a USB hub controller, or CC controller(TUSB320) to charge the tablet in the host mode ? If yes, could you recommend the chip part number and share schematic ?

Hi Yoon,

It seems like you would need a PD controller for this application. A CC logic controller is only able to send power from a host to a device.

I finished the 2nd layout with TUSB320 even though I failed to charge tablet in host mode.
Your support will be very helpful to me.

FYI, the charger spec: 5V 2A. tablet: 5V 1.6A charged.

Hi Yoon,

I believe you are looking for a device for this charger spec of: 5V 2A, and 5V 1.6A? Is this correct? If so the TPS65988 or TPS25750 may be able to meet your desires. There are example schematics available:

TPS25750: on the datasheet linked here in section 12.1.2 on page 55.
TPS65988: on the datasheet linked here in section 11.2 on page 59.

For the Data Minus (D-) (DM) and Data Plus (D+) (DP), these signals may be needed by other devices, or if there is battery charging standard 1.2, otherwise we do not handle the data.
