TUSB522P: What does RX termination mean ?

Part Number: TUSB522P

Hi Sir.

I have two related questions.

They are just to make sure.

Mr.David said before

"Other device will not detect the TUSB522P RX termination since it is in shutdown mode and the RX termination is in High-Z state.".

Also when there is no power supply, other device will not detect the TUSB522P RX termination, right?

I think above because the datasheet says,

”The TUSB522P advanced state machine makes it transparent to hosts and devices. After power up, the
TUSB522P periodically performs receiver detection on the TX pairs. If it detects a USB3.1 GEN1 receiver, the
RX termination is enabled, and the TUSB522P is ready to re-drive.”

"RX termination is enabld." means that both R(RX-DIFF-DC) and R(RX-CM-DC) are enabled at the same time, right?

Best regards,

Hiroaki

  • Hi Hiroaki,

    1. Also when there is no power supply, other device will not detect the TUSB522P RX termination, right?

You are correct. When there is no power supplied to the 522P the other device will not detect it.

    2. "RX termination is enabld." means that both R(RX-DIFF-DC) and R(RX-CM-DC) are enabled at the same time, right?

This is also correct. RX-DIFF-DC and RX-CM-DC are enabled once a device is detected by the 522P

  • Hi Shane,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand it very well now.

    Best regards,

    Hiroaki
