Hi,

We have selected USB MUX TS3USBA225 (1:3) for one of our appilcation. The interfaces are as follows:

1. D0 Port: It is connected to D+, D- pin of FS port of an MCU (STM32H747)

2. D1 Port: Both the lines are pulled up to 1.8V

3. R/L Port: This port id connected to an E75 Lightning connector

4. The output of this MUX is connected to another MUX (A0 port of TS3DS10224) to switch betw3en this output lines and USB HUB Interface line.

I have attatched the below block diagram for your reference. Both the MUX is connected to 3.3V of VCC and controlled by a 3.3V GPIO from an IO expander.

I just want to verify my schematic. Is the connection is correct? Please review and confirm. Please provide your valuable inputs if there is any mistake.

If you don't use D1, you can just leave it floating .

For E75 lighting connector, what is ID pin used for? It just high or low?

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the update. Actually, as per requirement, we have pulled the D1 port to 1.8V. Is there any concern?

The ID pin of the Lightning connector is connected to MCU pin (there is no pull up/ pull down) through a level shifter as the MCU GPIO pin is 1.8V. Is it fine or any pull up or pull down resistor is required?

Also, 3.3V is supplied to the VCC line of both the mux and the control pins of MUX are also 3.3V. Is it fine? Or I need to power up with 5V as the MUX is carrying 5V USB signals.

For D1, it's ok to pullup to 1.8v, but it's better to have large resistor to limit the current in uA. It's 1.8ma now with your design.

ID pin for Lighting connector should be same, you need to keep current in uA .

Max IO voltage for data signal of this device is 4.5v. It's Ok VCC is 3.3v and IO signal is 4.5v.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your suggestions. I will check and change the resistor to higher value (10K around) doe D1.

For ID, should I need to connected a Pull-up of 10K then?

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your support. We are expecting between 0-1.8V in ID Line. Along with that I have some more concern. Below is the complete block diagram for your reference.

In this, the output of the TS3USBA225 is connected to TS3DS10224 (Another MUX) with other signals from MCU or other devices. Please check the connection in above block diagram.

As per the current block, a 1.8V USB D+/D- Lines from MCU is connected directly to OUTB0. So, Should I need to use a voltage level shifter before connecting to OUTB0?

Simillarly, a USB D+/D- Lines from a USB HUB (Whose IO Level is 2.4V to VCC) is connected to OUTA1. Is it fine as the USB MUXs are at 3.3V supply rail.

Please let me know if I need to modify any other signal lines?

Both 1.8v and 2.4v USB2 signal should pass though the MUX, no level shifter needed.

Your block diagram not looks like TS3USBA225, TS3USBA225 only have three output channels and one of them is Audio signal.

Thanks for the information.

Actually, in the block diagram the part number got interchanged by mistake. Sorry for that. The single out mux is TS3USBA225 which is in the right side in the block diagram. The dual output mux is TS3DS10224 which is in the left side of the block diagram.

So, my concern is, will 1.8v and 2.4v USB2 signal should pass though the MUX TS3DS10224? As per your suggestion, it will pass, right? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Aakash:

From TS3DS10224 datasheet, IO voltage can be 0 to VCC,. VCC for this device is 3.3v, so 1.8v to 2.4v should work.

But TS3DS10224 is not the product of HSSC product line. You may submit another ticket just about TS3DS10224, so the ticket will go to the right person.
