TFP410: Problem converting RGB666 TTL

Hello everyone,

we are trying to grab a parallel RGB666 signal from one of our devices for serial testing purposes.
Our thought process was to use the TFP410 to convert this TTL Signal to HDMI and go from there.

The problem is that our small LCD fed by the RGB signal has no need for H-Sync and V-Sync as we sync its data per dataenable signal alone.
The respective sync pins are also used otherwise.
Now we are struggling to find a way to convert RGB666 to HDMI (or any other display interface) with no sync signal.
Is there a way to use the TFP410 or similar chips without the direct input of H-Sync and V-Sync from the source?

The DE signal allows the transmitter to encode pixel data or control data on any given input clock cycle. During active video (DE = high), the transmitter DE 2 I encodes pixel data, DATA[23:0]. During the blanking interval (DE = low), the transmitter encodes HSYNC, VSYNC and CTL[3:1].

So TFP410 does need the direct input of HSYNC and VSYNC from the source.

Thank you David for your swift reply.

Does anyone have experiences with generating Sync pulses externaly? Would it work as long as its matching the dataclock?

I am not aware of anyone using an external HSYNC or VSYNC. But I would think that as long as the setup and hold timing requirement is met as shown below, then it will work.
