DP to eDP

The main difference is that DP specifies what cables to use, while eDP is designed for direct connections without cables.

The electrical specifications are the same, so you can connect the two devices without any conversion.

If you need signal compensation between DP and eDP, you can use DP141 or DP142 re-driver.

As far as I understood there is not difference in signals but I should sort and order the signals on a PCB between the DP and eDP, correct?

For main link, HPD, and AUX, these are correct. 

Does the LCD panel have any backlight control requirement? The backlight can be controller through the AUX channel. But instead of using the AUX, a display panel can be implemented that allows use of the BL_PWM_DIM for backlight control. In addition, the panel can be implemented to allow backlight control by both the BL_PWM_DIM pin and EDP_BACKLIGHT_BRIGHTNESS_MSB/LSB registers. So you may need to build a backlight control on your PCB as well.

How about diff voltage swing levels, are they also compatible?

The max allowable differential pk-pk voltage levels are compatible.
