DS90UB941AS-Q1: Question about MODESEL1 Clock

Part Number: DS90UB941AS-Q1

Hi TI experts,

I found there are different descriptions on the "CLOCK Mode" in the MODE_SEL1 configuration.

In table 8-8, it shows that the FPDlink will be generated from REFCLK pin when CLOCK Mode = 0 and generated from DSI when CLOCK mode =1.

However, in Table 8-11 and 8.4.2.1 DSI Clock Modes section, it describes that this bit only configure the DSI clock mode - continuous or discontinuous.

Which descriptions is correct?

In my test, the FPDlink is still generated from DSI clock when MODE_SEL1 is changed from MODE1 to MODE 5.

If I want to use an external reference clock from the REFCLK pin, do I only need to change BRIDGE_CFG[1:0] to 01 without changing the MODE_SEL1 configuration?

Thanks.

  • Hi Randy,

Thank you for this question. To clarify:

    1. The MODE_SEL Clock mode setting will only configure to set as continuous of discontinuous clock. And this will also set the BRIDGE_CTL register bit 7  setting

    2. To select the type of clocking to use, you need to change BRIDGE_CLK_MODE bits on BRIDGE_CFG2 register to use an external reference clock.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
    Best regards,
    Ikram
