DP83822I: PHY address setting other than bootstrap

Part Number: DP83822I

Hi team,

Does DP83822 support any PHY address setting (0x0019 PHYCR [4:0]) method other than bootstrap?

My customer is using COL pin bootstrap to set PHY address.
However, my customer found the noise coming from GND goes into COL pin via the resistor RL, and then malfunctions the PHY.
So my customer wonders if any approach which allows to program the address other than bootstrap.
Or, does TI have any DP83822 option with different PHY address with the same pin out?

Best regards,
Kazuki Itoh

  • Hi Kazuki-san,

PHY Address can be set with RX_D3, RX_D2, RX_D1, RX_D0 & COL pin. The only option to configure PHY address is using the boot strap configuration, you cannot configure them using the registers.

Is customer following the recommended strap level ratios in the datasheet ? If COL pin is an issue, there are other pins which can configure the PHY address as shared above.

  • Hi Rahul-san,

    Thank you for your support.
My customer is following the table8-8 or 8-9, and setting it to MODE1 or MODE2.
Can we support to make an spin device with different default address value for this customer?
This is important project with large volume.
Please reach out to me offline for the detail.

    Best regards,
