Inquiries about merge solution related to Giga ethernet

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3L500

Hi, TI expert

The customer wants to host and connect two cameras using only one cable.

They are discussing a solution involving Gigabit Ethernet rather than FPD Link.

If there are any relevant merge solutions available, please recommend them. (Please refer to the diagram below).

Please check. Thank you.

  • Hi Grady,

Customer can use an ethernet switch for this application. Connecting both cameras and PC to a 3-port ethernet switch.

Our PL only has Ethernet PHYs and we do not have any ethernet switches.

    Rahul

  • Hi, Rahul

    Thank you for your response.

    I have one additional question.

If I connect it to a 3-port Ethernet switch, would it be possible to simultaneously operate two cameras and view the screens?

  • Hi Grady,

Something like the TS3L500 seems like it would work here. As long as the signals passing through the switch are within the recommended operating conditions then you'll have no issues. TI offers 8 LAN and Ethernet protocol specific switches. Being able to operate the two cameras and view screens would depend on the camera being used. The camera quality could differ based on the bandwidth and resolution of the video. If it fits inline with the switch being used then theoretically you should have no issue.
