DP83869HM: DP83869

Part Number: DP83869HM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83869

Hello Team,

it's possible to operate the DP83869 exclusively via bootstrap in 100 Mbps Media converter mode. The Application report SNLA318 on Page 9 speaks of register programming.

The data sheets says Media converter is possible only by Bootstrap without register programming.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerly Andreas

  • Hi Andreas,

It is possible to enter into 100 Mbps media converter mode through straps or through register configuration.

Could you point to the exact sentences in the datasheet that mention it is only possible through bootstrapping? This would help us clarify the language in our datasheet for future customers.

    Best regards,

    Melissa

  • Hello Melisa,

In the datasheet on page 38 Chapter 9.4.7 Media Convertor Mode is explicit described that both are possible and that are of course limitations in

    configuration with bootstrap.

So I was a bit surprised that the SLNA318 speaks of a register that should be programmed.

I will test it on the DP83869 EVAL board and will read the register seeting as feedback that boostrap is set correct.

Thanks for your feedback, so I'm on the right way.

    Best regards,

    Andreas

  • Hi Andreas,

No problem. Thank you for pointing this out. We will work to improve the language on our datasheets for future revisions.

I am going to close this thread for now if you have no additional questions.

    Best regards,

    Melissa
