DS90UB948-Q1: Use DGPIOs to transfer I2S data

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1

Dear TI expert,

Customer currently has a requirement to integrate MIC and MIC sampling circuits on the display end, and the digital audio collected by MIC needs to be transmitted to the ECU, as shown in the figure below. Since the I2S function of the 947 & 948 only supports transfer from the serializer to the deserializer, is it possible to reverse transfer I2S data from the 948 to the 947 using DGPIOs? Are there relevant design examples or reference designs (hardware or software) to share? Many thanks!

  • Hi Rogers,

Generally, the I2S functions have been used in the forward direction only so we do not currently have a reference design for this. Depending on the data rate, it may be possible to use the GPIO pins for this in reverse direction. Could you tell us what data rate needs to be used for this? Is there any other latency or jitter specifications that need to be met?

    Best regards,
    Ikram
