  • Hi Jack,

This information is available internally on the trx/ sharepoint. I'll link to the TCAN1043A folder directly for your convenience. See the ppt presentation "TCAN1043vsTCAN1043A_differences"
    https://sps16.itg.ti.com/sites/trx/TRXField/SiteAssets/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fsites%2Ftrx%2FTRXField%2FSiteAssets%2FProduct%20Information%2FCAN%2F2%20%2D%20Product%20Information%20%2DRTM%2FTCAN1043A&FolderCTID=0x0120004E8C1FF9489EB041AF88D50864EA0D5A&View=%7B51BFE40F%2D3EBF%2D4E00%2D8F73%2DECC6B04C2140%7D

Both of these devices are included in our 14 pin CAN comparison document as well so the specifications can be viewed side-by-side.

The main difference that the customer will need to consider is the inclusion of the SWE timer - a 4 minute inactive timer that runs in standby mode and will put the device into sleep mode if it expires. If the application does not expect to leave the transceiver in standby mode for an extended period of time, this should not have an impact on normal operation.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott

  • Hi Eric,

My customer feedback that there are some points you didn't mention in the slides, mainly about the difference of going to sleep mode. Did you notice that?

Looking forward to your reply, thanks!

  • Jack,

Both passages are saying the same message, they are just worded differently. The first paragraph is stating that CAN communication is not available, and that INH stays high to enable any peripheral power devices meant to supply VIO/VCC/other parts of the system. The second paragraph is just stating that a wake event that has happened prior to or has has happened during Go-To-Sleep mode, the device will not transition to sleep mode. The Go-To-Sleep mode between the two devices has the same behavior.

    Regards,

    Eric Hackett
