CAN IP validate suggestion

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN4550

Hi,

As we are working on the CAN IP (Controller Area Network) And to validate using FPGA (Nexys A7 validating board), We need to know what sensor device should be used for it to pass the inputs,

Could you please suggest any information regarding the same.

Thanks,
M.Reuel Joshua.

  • Hi Reuel,

Thanks for sharing your question on E2E.

This is the interface forum so you are being connected with experts on transceiver devices. This includes CAN transceivers and SBCs as well as the integrated transceiver and controller device TCAN4550. Most of these devices are only concerned with the physical layer requirements of the CAN standby and are not protocol aware. Transceivers alone are not able to generate CAN frames without being driven by data from a host MCU.

Our most basic transceiver devices would be the TCAN1044A (8-pin with standby mode) or TCAN1043A (14-pin with wake/INH). If you are evaluating CAN in your system, I would recommend using one of these devices in conjunction with the CAN controller of your choice.

Let me know if you have any questions on the CAN standard or the transceivers that are used in CAN systems. If you need help in another area, you may post on a different forum or let me know and I can connect you with the correct experts.
