DS90LV804: How to temporarily set the output of OUTx+/- to 0V

Hi experts,

Is there a way to use the EN pin to force both OUTx+/- outputs to 0V? 0V difference between OUT+/- is not sufficient, both OUT+ and OUT- must be 0V.

Since the datasheet says that OUT+/- are in TRI-STATE when the Enable pin is LOW, I think "OUTx+/- outputs to 0V" can be achieved by adding a pull-down resistor. Could you please give me your opinion / answer?

Hello Taito,

Yes, you can force both outputs [OUTx±] to be 0V by using a pull-down to ground. The parameter used is 'Output Short Circuit Current' and can be found on the datasheet.

'Output Short Circuit Current' is also listed in Absolute Ratings, so does that mean that if you are going to attach a pull-down resistor, the resistance value must not exceed 90mA?

Hello Taito,

The test condition used for Output Short Circuit has either OUT+ or OUT- touching GND. This tells you how much current can pass through before the device breaks.

If using a pull-down resistor on both output pins, a 10 kΩ resistor should be fine.
