TS3USB31E: Absolute Maximum Ratings of HSD+, HSD–, D+, D–

Part Number: TS3USB31E

Hi expert,

Referring to USB specfication Rev2.0 "7.1.1 USB Driver Characteristics", The USB port can withstand voltages from -1.0 to 4.6V.

In the other hand, Referring to TS3USB31E datasheet "6.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings", Absolute Maximum Ratings of HSD+, HSD–, D+, D–(when VCC=3.3V) voltage are defined from -0.5V to 3.6V(=VCC+0.3).

If TS3USB31E  receives waveform with undershoot of -1.0V or overshoot of 4.6V(when TS3USB31E's VCC=3.3V), Will TS3USB31E  be damaged?

  • Hello,

For the TS3USB31E, while this device should be functional within the higher range of the listed voltages according to the Absolute Maximum Ratings section, in the lower range, we do not spec the voltage going down to -1V, so within that range, the device may not function as expected or may be damaged.

Additionally, please be aware that the Absolute Maximum Ratings are stress-test values, and do not imply functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions beyond those indicated under Recommended Operating Conditions.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

    Thanks,

    Ryan
