DS90UB953-Q1: Why channel spec is for whole frequency

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

Hi team,

My customer is using many of our FPDLINK device.

And they wonder why we have channel spec requirements for whole frequency?

For example, they use FC for 4.755GHz and BC for 50MHz, and our channel spec have requirements from 25MHz to 4.775GHz.

Could you please kindly help explain why we need the whole frequency & do we have any documents to explain this?

Thanks,

Brian

  • Hi Brian,

Thanks for reaching out with this question. Could you clarify what forward channel is used here? The UB953 would have a forward channel frequency closer to 2GHz (2Gbps) depending on the reference clock used by the deserializer if in sync mode.

Regarding the channel specification, the FPD-Link forward channel has frequency components across the range between the back channel rate and forward channel rate.

    Best,

    Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

Thanks for reminding me for 953's FC.

Regarding the channel specification, the FPD-Link forward channel has frequency components across the range between the back channel rate and forward channel rate.

Could you please kindly help give me a more detailed explanation to help customer to better understand?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Brian,

I'm unsure if there's additional background that I can provide here. The channel specification is set based on the design of the FPD-link devices & needs to be followed for all links.

    Best,
