DS90UB954-Q1: OUT+- LAYOUT layout requirements

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Hi team,

The customer saw the following requirements in the OUT+- layout of the competitor's SERDES. The customer wanted to know whether we have similar requirements.

“If coax is used route 100ohm differential traces for DOUT+/- signals between IC to AC coupling capacitors. Length match is also necessary for the trace between IC to AC coupling capacitors. Route 50-ohm traces for DOUT- signal between AC coupling capacitor and connector.”

  • Hi Alan,

We recommend placing the AC capacitors as close to the pins as possible and to make sure the impedance control for the high speed traces is met. We recommend routing the traces between the IC and AC caps as 100Ohm differential traces, so this would mean they should be length matched since they are differential. After the AC caps you should route the RIN+ trace as a 50Ohm single-ended trace with tight impedance control (±10%). This will help with meeting the FPD-Link channel specifications.

    Regards,

    Cindy
