Currently trying to reduce space on a PBA by removing magnetics for an Ethernet PHY to Ethernet PHY connection without magnetics on same PBA.
I’ve seen an application note for the DP83848 where there is a transformer-less configuration. Link to app note: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/snla088a/snla088a.pdf.
Only issue is that this seems to just hook up to an RJ45.
I also saw another post on the TI forums stating that we could match the above configuration but change to 0.1uF AC Coupling capacitors instead of the 33nF AC Cap shown in the link above. Link: https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/572998/dp83822hf-transformerless-operation
Would it be okay to continue with the implementation with the RJ45 and 0.1uF caps?
What other design aspects should I be considering when trying to make this update?
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks
