DS90UB960-Q1: Platform design for 2G/4G Serializer questions

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hi team,

thanks for your support always! My customer has some questions as below.

1. Since this ECU product is designed as platform. the cameras of different specifications may be used. if we would like to use 960 Des at ECU side. Ser will use 1M or 3M camera. Should I follow datasheet 2G FPD-Link POC circuit to use 1FB(BLM18HE152SN1)+4.7~22uH+100uH or follow 4G POC circuit to use 1FB(BLM18HE152SN1)*3+10uH or other recommended circuit?

2. For Trace S parameter. Does FPDLINK have special requirements for PCB materials, layout and connector? or do we have any document for this?

3. table 227. Suggested characteristics for Single-Ended PCB Traces with attached PoC network as below. since customer is designing for system level PCB Traces. they would like to know do we have any suggested for system level PCB Traces instead of Single-Ended?

  • Hi Jimmy,

Will get back to you in the next two days.

  • Hi Glenn,

Sure. Waiting for your good news.

  • Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for reaching out with these questions from customer. Please see my feedback included below:

    1. Do you know what the link bandwidth is used here? This will dictate the PoC network which should be used in this case. If the UB953 is used at full rate (about 4Gbps) we would recommend the 4G network is used.
    2. For trace S parameter TI does not have specific requirements as to the PCB materials which are to be used here. For FPD3 devices we can normally use FR408HR material which provides sufficient signal integrity while also saving cost. Section 8.5 of the UB960 datasheet should have some guidelines here for customer. For most ADAS applications customers use coax cables with RIN+ traces on the deserializer routed single ended to the connector while maintaining 50 ohm impedance.
    3. Could you please clarify this question? Here these recommendations refer to single ended (rather than differential) routing which can be used for coax traces designed to have 50 ohm characteristic impedance.

    Best,

    Thomas
