DP83869HM: Link down/link up for Gigabit and 100 Gigabit transmissions

Part Number: DP83869HM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83869

Hi Team,

The test is as follows:

1) Gigabit Upstream Test: Forces the PC into adaptive mode but is recognized as 1G and immediately shows link down on the PC side.

2) Gigabit Downstream Test: Force PC into adaptive mode which will be identified as 1G, and some packets lost, there is link down/up after long operation.

3) 100 Gigabit upstream Test: Force PC to 100m Mode. Packet loss occurs, and link down/up appears after long time of operation.

4) 100 Gigabit Downstream test: Force PC to 100M mode, and it runs properly.

5) The reset port voltage is always detected as high, and no reset was observed during data transmission.

6) Chip port supply voltage monitor with no drops during data transmission.

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry

  • Hi Cherry,

I am not sure if I understand your questions completely. DP83869 can only support up to 1Gbps, so are you seeing link down and up at 1Gbps?

If my understand is correct, could you try to following test:

    • Could you read register 0x0000 to 0x001F when then the link is down and up?
    • What is the link partner for DP83869?
    • What is the cable length in your application?
    • Are you able to see a link up between DP83869 and DP83869?

    Thank you,

    Hillman Lin

  • Hi Hillman Lin,

    Thank you for the support.

Could you read register 0x0000 to 0x001F when then the link is down and up?

Registers 0x0000 through 0x001F read when link down as shown in the following figure:

What is the link partner for DP83869?

The DP83869 is connected to MAC model S32R45 of NXP and the RJ45 side is connected to the PC:

What is the cable length in your application?

The current project application uses a network cable connection with a length of 0.5 m.

Are you able to see a link up between DP83869 and DP83869?

Yes, there is a link up and the ping has been completed between the two DP83869s.

    Thanks and regards,

    Cherry

  • Hi Zhou,

Based on your register dump, I am seeing that you are having a link up through register 0x0001. Could you also send me register dump when the PHY is in link down stage?
