DS90UB953-Q1: Please recommend SERDES IC for my customer.

Dear TI experts,

I want you to help me to recommend SERDES IC for my customer. Could you help me?

- Camera SERDES for connect QHD resolution(2560*1440) camera (application : Black box for car)

- deserializer interface : MIPI

- BT656 or BT1120 support is preferred.

one more question, Is there any recommendation about cable between serializer and deserializer? (i.e. length, type of connector and cable, shilding, any kinds of other specification.)

    For serializer, UB913A and UB933 are potential solutions assuming the following are confirmed for BT656 or BT1120 input video data. UB913A is one converter from 10bits or 12bits plus HS/VS to serial data, any input video data which catches UB913A's parallel input spec. (such as maximum PCLK freq., parallel bit width, etc.) can be transmitted from the UB913aA side. For BT656 and BT1120, please confirm the following as well. 

    To further isolate suitable serializer and deserializers, do you know what the frame rate of the imagers would be and how many sensors would be used?

    1. I saw the datasheets of UB913A and UB933, but It seems that both 2 serializers support only up to 1 megapixel. (for 933, it supports 2megapixels if the frame is down to 30fps.)

    anyway QHD resolution is about 3.7 megapixels. do UB913A or UB933 support 3.7 megapixels image?

    2. How about deserializer? do you have any suggestions for deserializer?

    3. for BT656 and BT1120, is it only related to serializer? how about deserilizer? does deserilizer have no relation with these BT656 and BT1120 data?

    The 913A and 933 are potential solutions for the given resolution since the constraints of the device is dependent on PCLK frequency. The PCLK frequency is up to 100MHz for 10 bit data. For 12-bit payloads, this is 75MHz. To calculate the PCLK value, we can use the following equation: Horizontal pixels * Vertical pixels * Frame rate * Overhead (~12% if unknown). The frame rate will determine the proper serializer. 

    2. How about deserializer? do you have any suggestions for deserializer?

    For deserializer, the number of sensor will impact device suggestions. If only one sensor is being used, the DS90UB954 / DS90UB936 are potential solutions. 

    3. for BT656 and BT1120, is it only related to serializer? how about deserilizer? does deserilizer have no relation with these BT656 and BT1120 data?

    The BT656 and BT1120 relates to the serializer as it is the input video data requirement. Serializers and deserializers have defined compatibilities that are listed on the first page of the datasheet. Deserializer selection will depend on the total aggregated output video data.
