TUSB217-Q1: TUSB217RGYRQ1

Part Number: TUSB217-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB212-Q1, TUSB217, TUSB212

Hi Application Team:

We would like to use TUSB217-Q1 replace TUSB212-Q1 since USB2.0 SI on Type A port of C car is too weak to pass USB IF ,

we would like to know what’s the difference and the deviation of gain between these parts.?

and TUSB217 won’t have handshake sequence issue as TUSB212 if only using resistor configured Boost/Sense? Or anything we need to take care if we design TUSB217-Q1 ?

 thank you

Roy

  • Hi Roy,

we would like to know what’s the difference and the deviation of gain between these parts.?

We do not have any tests or information directly quantifying the difference in the gain they can provide. The TUSB217-Q1 has additional features that are not on the TUSB212-Q1, such as RX_SENS, which can improve the signal quality by compensating for ISI Jitter which can accumulate over longer cable lengths. This app note should have more information for configuration and gain: TUSB217-Q1 Configuration Guidelines.

and TUSB217 won’t have handshake sequence issue as TUSB212 if only using resistor configured Boost/Sense? Or anything we need to take care if we design TUSB217-Q1 ?

What handshake sequence issue are you referring to? Please elaborate on this issue you're seeing.

As for designing the device in, the TUSB217-Q1 is NOT pin to pin compatible with the TUSB212-Q1, so you should take care to ensure each pin has the proper input or output linked. Please follow the typical application listed in section 8.2 of the datasheet.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

    Thanks,

    Ryan
