TCAN1043A-Q1: Sleep mode entering by Vio < Uvio

Part Number: TCAN1043A-Q1

Hello TI expert

In our project as system limits we can not use STB and EN pin to control the transceiver TCAN1043A-Q1 entering to sleep mode.

Instead we want to shut down VIO of TCAN1043A-Q1,when VIO ramps down low than Uvio and tUV(100~350ms) time out,then  TCAN1043A-Q1 goes to sleep mode.

My question:

Is it feasible or any risk use this approach to set TCAN1043A-Q1 to go to sleep mode ? 【I did not try this approach before 】

  • Kevin,

This is feasible, but not necessarily typical. You want to make sure your MCU is ready to go into Sleep mode which is why you typically have it set the device into Sleep mode before powering down. But in your case, a controlled ramp down of VIO to set the device into Sleep mode will work. You can even wake the transceiver into Standby mode with a WUP or using the WAKE pin without VIO supplied.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Regards,

    Eric Hackett
