DS160PT801: Power supply decoupling

Part Number: DS160PT801

The power supply decoupling demonstrated in the DS160PT801X16EVM user guide does not agree with the recommended minimum high-frequency and low-frequency decoupling capacitors listed in the DS160PT801 datasheet.

  1. Is the decoupling shown on pages 28 and 29 of the DS160PT801X16EVM user guide sufficient for most applications?
  2. If not, is there an example layout showing preferred placement for the capacitors listed on page 45 of the DS160PT801 datasheet?
  • Hi Chris,

Thank you for reaching out. Regarding your posed questions, the de-coupling capacitor networks shown in the DS160PT801X16EVM User's Guide is typically sufficient for most applications. Typically more de-coupling capacitors applies additional power supply filtering, which may help with any unintended power supply noise.

    Best,
    David
