DS80PCI402: What could be wrong if tying VDD_SEL = 0 with 0-Ω resistor to GND at 3.3V mode operation?

Part Number: DS80PCI402

Hello,

My customer uses DS80PCI402 at 3.3V supply voltage.
They directly connect VDD_SEL to GND now.
However, they noticed that the datasheet says “Tie VDD_SEL = 0 with 1-kΩ resistor to GND” at 3.3V mode operation. What could be wrong if tying VDD_SEL = 0 with 0-Ω resistor to GND?

Best regards,

K.Hirano

  • Hi Hirano-San,

It is a good design practice to use 1K ohm to protect the input from any noise or spike from GND to get into the device. This is a good design practice.  What they have would work but it is a good design practice to use 1K ohminstead.

    Regards, Nasser
