TIOL112: Mode change on the fly

Part Number: TIOL112

Hi team,

My customer want to use TIOL112 as IO-link(When EN=H) and PNP digital input(When EN=L).

Since TIOL112 doesn’t have a current sink for PNP digital input, we want to use ILLM CQ discharge feature of IO-link master mode.

Is it possible to dynamically switch between non-master mode and master mode by turning on/off a switch that shorts ILIM_ADJ to GND during operation?

Regards,

  • The ILIM_ADJ pin can be adjusted during operation, so yes you should be able to switch between IO-Link master and non-master modes.  In order to discharge the load when switching digital input mode, I think they will need to do this before the set the EN pin Low because doing so will disable the CQ driver FETs which would be needed to create a path for the discharge current.  This idea will need to be tested by the customer to make sure it will work as they intend.

    Regards,

    Jonathan
