Hello

Hi,

We use TCA9617A for 3.3V(FPGA) <--> 5.0V(the connector side) level shifting on the HDMI DDC(VCCA=3.3V, VCCB=5.0V).

Is TCA9617A supports the I2C bus ?

Could you please suggest us your recommneded parts for the HDMI DDC based on your experience ?

Below is my design, The connection is ok?.

Hey Roi,

Yes this device can be used to buffer I2C signals and the schematic also seems fine. I would further suggest taking a look at section 9.2.1.2.1 for further design requirements and further checking the VIL/ VOL levels to be compatible with your downstream devices.

according https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva689/slva689.pdf documents, section 4(Example), I calculate the pull up/down resistor for fscl=100KHz:

tr=1usec

Rp(max) = 2.95K

Vol=0.53V , Iol=30mA -> Rp (min) = 92 Ohm., 92Ohm resistor look very low, I am right?

In my design the resistors value is 2.4K.

Hi Roi,

The TCA9617's B side likely won't pass the 50pF compliance test for HDMI DDC. For HDMI DDC, the pull up resistor needs to be 2k if I remember correctly.

You may want to consider using TCA9509 and have the B side face the cable end.
