I apply for a piece of CEM2SLIMSAS-EVM
During the test, Jumper was set up according to the Quick-Star Guide.
But of the two SlimSas Connects, only J1 can operate normally.
J2 never recognizes the backend device
The current settings are as follows:
1. J10/J11/J14: Set Jumper to 2-3 (Low)
2. J4/J5/J6/J7: Set Jumper to 2-3 (Also tried 1-2)
3. J9: Set Jumper to 1-2/3-4/5-6/7-8
Do I need to set up J2 to recognize the device?

Hi Benson,

Thank you for reaching out with this issue. When observing the failure of connector J2, was a SlimSAS cable assembly and U.2 endpoint connected to connector J1?

J1 is not connected to any device
Only J2 has use SlimSAS cable and U.2 device

We have one of these boards working in the lab. Jumpers(J4, J5, J8, and J7) for PERST# are in opposite location to what you have. Here is the image of our board:

thanks for your reply
I have set your settings
But only the J1 connected device can recognize the device
I only have one device now (SlimSas 8i to M.2 Dual Port)
Both J1 and J2 must be connected to the device at the same time for normal operation?
Did you test the single-side connection?
This is the difference between my current testing and yours

We've had one side only working as well. I am wondering if your root complex or end point are set to operate in 2 X4 mode?

I didn't set this part
But can CEM2SLIMSAS-EVM be set to 2X4 or 4X4 mode?
If the connection is successful, I should be able to see the device in the motherboard BIOS.
J1 can see the device in the motherboard BIOS
But J2 just can't see the device

Hi Benson,

Agreed you should be able to see L0 or connection in BIOS.

Yes we have used this board with different SSDs - such as Samsung and Kioxia - in 4X4 or 2X4 configurations.

You mentioned J1 can see devices while J2 cannot. How about if you swap J1 and J2 cables. In this case, we are still having problem with J2?

I think my motherboard does not support PCIe change settings.
If I can set PCIe X16 to X8X8 it should solve the problem
