DS90UB934-Q1: POC reference design

Part Number: DS90UB934-Q1

Hi, Team:

Can you help to check and advise what's the latest UB933/934 POC reference design?

Seems we have several ways to get the POC circuit.

1. 933 datasheet recommend Application "Sending Power Over Coax in DS90UB913A Designs (ti.com)"

2. FPD Link IV POC design guide which shows different solution for POC base on bandwidth. But looks like the circuit design is much difference with 933 application note.  For example,Murata solution 3, there is no parallel 1K ohm resistor with Inductor which used in 933 application note.

3. 954 datasheet, there is a backward compatible POC network.

which one is more prefer for the POC especially for item1 and 2?

Thanks

  • Hello Alpha,

It is recommended to use the PoC network as shown in the 934 datasheet, figure 6-2.

  • Hi, Hamzeh:

We have a detailed discussion with customer. Since project schedule is very tight, we need to solve potential issue in the beginning. Can you help to check attached questions and feedback before Thursday your time?

    Thanks.

  • Hello Alpha,

the questions/comments in the attached file are confusing. Please list your specific questions below and I can answer them.

  • Hi, Hamzeh:

Thanks for the feedback. I summary the PPT because different document has different recommend schematic and layout. To make it simply, I summary the requirement as below, can you help to summary these information in the PPT file or word file for easy track? Expect to your feedback this Friday your time.

    1. What's the recommended POC schematic for UB933 and UB934 separately?  What's the recommend inductor and ferrite bead part number? What's the cap and resistor value?

    2. If need common chock and ESD diodes in FPD Link trace? If need, can you suggest the common chock part number?

    3. What's the recommended FPD Link and POC circuit layout for UB933/934 seperately?  How to route the FPD Link IN- trace in 934?

    4. If method to simulate the S parameters before PCBA is back?

    5. We are trying to ask customer send layout file to you for review. Can you advise what's the layout SW you are using? If you can open layout designed with Cadence?

    Thanks

  • Hello Alpha,

    1. What's the recommended POC schematic for UB933 and UB934 separately?  What's the recommend inductor and ferrite bead part number? What's the cap and resistor value?

Please use the PoC filter shown in the 934 datasheet, Figure 6-2. In this figure and in Table 6-1 you can find all part numbers and values listed.

    2. If need common chock and ESD diodes in FPD Link trace? If need, can you suggest the common chock part number?

These are not required but optional.

    3. What's the recommended FPD Link and POC circuit layout for UB933/934 seperately?  How to route the FPD Link IN- trace in 934?

We do not have any PoC recommended layout. We do have general layout recommendations as shown in the 934 datasheet section "6.6 Layout".

However, we also can review customers layout once done, and recommend any needed improvement.

    4. If method to simulate the S parameters before PCBA is back?

I know people are using, for example, SI simulation tools such as Keysight ADS, or HFSS or HyperLynx. You need to contact your simulation tool's vendor for simulations instruction.

    5. We are trying to ask customer send layout file to you for review. Can you advise what's the layout SW you are using? If you can open layout designed with Cadence?

You can send either Altium files, Gerber files or ODB++.
But please make a new E2E post for a layout review and do not post it in this public forum.

  • Hi, Hamzeh:

Please find my input as below.

    1.  I checked, there is figure 6-2 in 934 datasheet and also table 6-1 for the components. Can you also check the recommend circuit for 933? I checked the SNLA224 but seems the POC network are more different.

    DS90UB934-Q1 12-Bit, 100-MHz FPD-Link III Deserializer for 1MP/60fps and 2MP/30fps Cameras datasheet (Rev. C) (ti.com)

    2. Looks like there are still some questions are not understand by you. I will send a call to go through these topics quickly to improvement the efficiency.

  • Hi Alpha,

As I said, they can use the PoC in 934 datasheet. This can be used for both sides.

What other questions do you mean? I believe I have provided answers to all questions.

I am not sure I can join the proposed time by you.
