Hi Team,

I know that the DP83TD510E has been tested for surge ratings IEC61000-4-5 Surge ±2KV.

My customer is considering installing lightning surge protection outside the equipment to make it more robust.

Is there a recommended manufacturer of Surge Protective Device?

    I'm not familiar with external lightning surge protection, can you clarify what this looks like? A block diagram would be useful for me to understand.

    Relative to surge protection, I have only seen ESD diodes used on the MDI lines.

    Thank you.

    Yes, I have also introduced ESD and TVS diodes on the board.

    I know of cases where surge absorber products are included as a countermeasure, perhaps as a device to be put between the board and the cable.

    I would like you to share some proven surge absorber products that are actually used in SPE.

    Do you share such information within your team?

    We don't have any data for an external surge absorber used on the MDI, please contact the TVS/ESD team as they may be in a better position to help you with this.
