DP83867CR: Rx errors when IPG is 72ns, VTM_CFG set to IPG < 12

Part Number: DP83867CR

Hi,

Our switch can have Inter Packet Gap as short as 72ns.
It generates a lot of Rx errors that we can see in RECR 0x0015 and on the RX_ER signal form RGMII.
When setting VTM_CFG register (0x0053) bits 3:0 to 0x4 (IPG < 12), we can see that those Rx errors decrease a lot, but some remains.

Looking at RX_ER and RX_CTRL with a scope, I can see that each time an RX_ER occurs it follows a 72ns IPG.

It seems that VTM_CFG IPG < 12 prevents Rx errors for IPG between 11 and 10, but not under.

Is there some other setting I missed to make the DP83867CR able to receive packets with smaller IPG without error ?

Regards,
Francois
